Masters of the Universe Classics Custom Figuren (Index)

As my Masters of the Universe Custom figures quickly get lost between all those Yankee Candle posts on my blog, I created an Index to make it easier for you to find the Motu posts.

Mekaneck - A Masters of the Universe Classics Custom Figure

This is another repaint I made based on a 200x variant. I thought the color choice was interesting so I wanted to transfer the look into classics.

I changed a few things compared to the original 200x repaint (the color of the club for example) to make him look a little more interesting, but I think he's still pretty true to his 200x counterpart.

I chose to display him with a 3rd party unhelmeted custom head I once bought from another german customizer (don't exactly remember who it was, sorry).

What do you think of this repaint? Let me know in the comments :)

Angella - A Masters of the Universe Classics Custom Figure

Well, I pretty much messed up this one (but I show you anyway :))

I wanted to make a more vintage toy accurate Angella figure, but in the end, I'm not satisfied.
While making her, everything that possibly could go wrong, did go wrong.

Some things I was able to get fixed, others I couldn't. The sculpting of the ponytail didn't work out as I wanted it to, it even broke, the paint just didn't want to cover and when it finally did there were so many layers already, that it came off again. This figure is cursed I swear :)

I felt like a real beginner again with this  - even the skin color (which I used like 100 times before, problemfree) just won't stay at the joints and comes off with every movement...this figure is a nightmare, really.

Even the wash on the wings (which usually is a rather easy thing to do) didn't want to turn out as beautiful as I thought it would (or wanted it to be)...also I wish I was able to make her a pink/transparent culottes, like the vintage toy had.

I want to show this figure to you anyway, because (even if it's one of my worst customs) it shows again, how much better the POPs would have looked like in their toy colors.

Transformation She-Ra - A Masters of the Universe Classics Custom Figure

I always wanted to make a Starburst She-Ra, but I never came up with a good idea how to create that starburst-cape.

She's been unfinished for such a long time on my shelf now and yet I decided to just leave her this way and display her with some "Tamashii Effect" so I can imagine she's just in the middle of a transformation from "normal" to starburst.

Well, maybe someday I come up with a good idea how to create that vintage starburst cape, but until then, I'm pretty happy with "Transformation She-Ra".

Enjoy the pictures and let me know what you think in the comments :)

Horde Cyborg - A Masters of the Universe Classics Custom

If you have read my other Motu Classics custom posts, you probably have recognized this "cyborg" guy next to Hordak on a few pictures before. In this blog post, I'd like to give you a closer look at him.

This custom figure started as just a piece of practicing. I simply picked random body, arms and legs and painted them black to test if the Patio Paint color was a good one to work with. Well it was and became one of my regular colors.

This figure wasn't supposed to go anywhere. When I had the black paint done, I decided to test those silver stripes on him, I was planning to use for my Scrathin Sound Catra custom figure.

Well, I liked the result and decided to not waste the parts, so I gave him Hordak's boots and Dwag-O-Tor's armour, which I repainted.

Finally I gave him that cyborg head, I once bought from customizer Kevin "Tin" Kosse and that gun, I bought from another customizer (sorry, I cannot remember who it was).

I think overall he turned out pretty nice. I haven't come up for a name for him, yet, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to leave a comment :)

That Horde-Witch-Lady you see next to him is basically an early Deapara/Adora I once made. The head again is a Kevin "Tin" Kosse custom and the sword ist from Evil Mike.

A Throne For Hordak - A Masters of the Universe Classics Custom

Yes, all those Filmation fans won't like it much, but I never saw the Evil Horde as Filmation portrayed them. In my mind they are much more savage and wild.

In my imagination the Evil Horde lives in the woods, marsh or swamps of Eternia at the Fright Zone (the playset Fright Zone, not the cartoon Fright Zone), somewhere "good" people never go.

If you get lost in the woods and get there, you'll never come back. There are animal like monsters who are barely human at all. No Filmation Mantenna, but a really spider-like creature, no Filmation Grizzlor, but a really cruel beast-like creature etc.

Whatever, to me the Filmation throne doesn't fit Hordak and I once saw a custom on the internet some years ago where someone took the Seiya Myth Cloth Hades Shun Throne and turned it into a Hordak throne. I thought this was a perfect match and since then wanted one for myself.

I bought a Seiya Myth Cloth Hades Shun Throne, but then...well...I'm lazy. I had it sitting around here for (2? 3?) years and now I finally painted it. I like the result and think it gives Hordak a much darker tone than the Filmation throne does. I imagine the throne standing in some old castle ruins or something.

For the black I used Patio Paint which is a good and solid black colour you can perfectly use as a base. For the grey dry brushing and the red details I used Vallejo Model Color, which are my main colors to use.

That Hordak figure you see on the pictures is a little mix/match one. I used regular Hordaks body and chest armour with Hurricane Hordaks Head/Hood. I also gave him Buzz Saw Hordak's boots and loincloth. I cut the upper part of his staff, painted the ball and placed the little bat on there.

What do you think of this custom? I appreciate your thoughts, let me know what you think in the comments :)

Mer-Man and his Minions - Masters of the Universe Classics

With some of those Masters of the Universe Classics figures, many fun variations are possible as they come with extra heads and/or aceessoires. Not much customizing today, but just a little playing around. Here are my versions of Mer-Man :)

On the picture above you see (left to right): Blue Mer-Man as he came with the DC-2-Pack. I added a custom painted shield / Original Mer-Man / Mer-Man with alternate head that came with the figure. I swapped his feet to yellow and gave him that weapon's pack shield.

On the picture above you see Mer-Man wearing his golden weapon's pak armour. I repainted his face to match the colour better and gave him orange boots. Next to him is Blue Mer-Man, but this time I repainted his original green head to blue.

In addition to these, here's Clawful. I slightly just repainted his chest armour and gave him the 200x head from the head pack.

What do you think of these? Do you like to mix and match and/or customize, too? Let me know in the comments. And if you haven't already checked out my latest custom figure "Despara", just click HERE or use this url:  https://robin0377.blogspot.de/2017/04/despara-masters-of-universe-classics.html

Despara - Masters of the Universe Classics Custom Figures

To be honest, I never really liked the character Despara at all. A Hordak look-a-like face mask? What is it made of? Hordaks dead wife's head or something? I never liked the masked Adora idea and I still don't think it looks good.

Neither did I like the short haired Adora (or Despara, whatever) nore her comic storyline (Hey, you killed thousands of our people brutally and destroyed half of Eternia, but now that your memories suddenly came back and in a blink of an eye, we forget about all the killing and you're our new best friend, yeah).

Anyway, I was a little mixing and matching and playing around. When I had Adoras regular head on Desparas body then, I thought it suited her very well and decided to keep her that way. The only thing I changed then was to paint those black stripes onto her face and give her the cartoon sword from Evil Mike (I once bought that from Shapeways).

You see, not much "real customizing" here, but I think she looks pretty cool this way.

As I had the short haired head left then and didn't want to leave it on Adora's body (though it looks kind of interesting) I somewhen decided to built a body for that head.

I used parts from different figures, like Frosta, Huntara and Carnivus, mixed them up and repainted them.

I still do not like the character, but it was fun playing around with it a little.

And here she is seen next to a very early Adora/Despara custom variant I made once. For that figure I used 3rd party accessoires: Kevin Kosse's custom head and Evil Mike's crossbow.

What do you think of these Despara variants? Let me know in the comments :)

P.S.: If you haven't already checked out my latest custom figure, just click HERE or use this url:  https://robin0377.blogspot.de/2017/04/castaspella-flutterina-peekablue.html

Castaspella, Flutterina, Peekablue - Masters of the Universe Classics Custom Figures

Today it's time for some of my earlier customs again. I already showed you Catra and Glimmer which I made vintage toy inspired versions of. This time it's Castaspella, Peekablue and Flutterina.

Castaspella was a little tricky to do, because the orange paint just wouldn't stick. It was a real pain to get that color right and I had to paint it over and over again. In the end it turned out pretty o.k. I guess, but could have been better if I used some better color. Anyway, I think it gives you a good impression on how great she could look if released in her vintage toy colors.

I attached a picture of the figure next to her Classics counterpart (so you directly can see what changes I made) as well as a picture with her vintage counterpart (so you can see why).

As for the next figure, Peekablue, I understand why they went yellow with the golden parts of this figure in the cartoon version, but in Classics I think they should have gone back to gold like on the original figure. Well, they didn't, so I changed that and I really think it looks better :)

I also added some of the details to her boots and chest to match the vintage figure better.

Flutterina I think turned out pretty well in Classics and I just made very little changes on that figure - I guess you can't even call it a custom figure with these tiny color changes, but see yourself:

I simply added some lilac details on her belt and neck and made her chest symbol match the color.

What do you think? Do you prefer the vintage toy look or the cartoon look of the POP figures? Let me know in the comments :)
